Small Ebikes-Mini Dirt Bikes

July 4th, 2009 by admin

Someone bugging you for a dirt bike? Take a good look at an electric mini dirt bike as a great alternative to the gas hogs. Your neighbors will thank you as they are almost silent unlike those obnoxious gas bikes. Dirt ebikes are safer than gas, as well as they do not have any explosive fuel tanks or hot parts to burn yourself on. They charge up by plugging into the wall and the high efficiency batteries on these things are designed to work in harmony with the motor to deliver a steady supply of long lasting power.

Ebike mini dirt bikes are far less expensive to operate than their gas powered cousins, as in order to get the equivalent of a full tank of gas you have only to plug it into the power outlet in your wall for a few hours and you are ready to go. No more lugging around dangerous gas cans in the back of your car on the way to the dirt bike course or paying far too much a gallon to fill the thing in the first place! Your only cost to run a mini dirt bike is the electricity, which will save you about 90% of the cost of gas.

Electric powered mini dirt bikes run very clean and are better for the environment than gas models and are much quieter, too. Unlike gas powered dirt bikes, electric mini dirt bikes don’t pollute. The only potential pollution is from disposing of the batteries improperly. Electric power plants, which are strictly regulated, have less of an impact on the environment than gasoline, and reduce your carbon output! You can also cut down on noise pollution with these bikes too, as they are much, much more quiet than gas powered motors. Unlike the noisy gas dirt bikes, these mini dirt bikes only hum softly, making them great for rides in the country as wel as city courses.

Unlike ebikes used for commuting, distance isn’t much of a concern with a mini dirt bike. That means tht you can push the powerful motor to it’s extreme, and still and power left for stunts. It doesn’t take a long time to recharge the batteries, so you can be back on the track again quickly.

Ebike Helmets

July 4th, 2009 by admin

It doesn’t matter if you are on your ebike commuting to work or if you are just out fooling around. Don’t forget your ebike helmet. Perhaps even more than normal non-powered bikes, ebikes were designed to get going and keep going, so if you wipe out there is likely to be a bit more force behind it. If you are riding along at high speeds it is especially important, and in today’s busy traffic, don’t even think of riding your ebike out on the street without proper ebike helmet protection. It is just asking for head trauma and a high speed trip to the emergency room.

Yet, there isn’t much more danger to riding an ebike over a regular bike. But we can’t stress enough how important wearing a quality helmet on any bike, electric or not. In a car, you don’t need a helmet because of all the safety components built in. But on an ebike, you ARE the accident You need an ebike hemat to protect your head in case you crash. When you are on a bike, you do not have that protection, so as uncomfortable and dorky as it may seem, you have got to wear a helmet. In most states anyone riding a bike, no matter what their age, MUST have head protection or face a fine.Afterwards, the governmental powers assume you are smart enough to protect yourself and choose the best helmet.

It’s not hard to choose a good bike helmet, when armed with the right information. Helmet companies work constantly to develop new ways to make their helmets safer and more comfortable. Thes days, there is a plethora of bike helmets to choose from. It’s easy to become confused. But remember, a bike helmet is a necessity, not a luxury. Take the time to read the information about each model and pick the one that fits your needs. But absolutely DO buy one. If you are overwhelmed by the options, very often typing in the name of a bike helmet and the word review into any search engine will get you all the information you need to make a sound decision on whether that is the right bike helmet for you.

You should replace your bike helmet any time you get into an accident where the helmet takes an impact or after every five years or so. Bike helmet serve to take the power of an impact away from the skull. The impact will compress and crack the lihelmet lining, but not your head. The next time you wipe out there might not be enough proper cushioning to protect your noggin. It is also a good idea to replace your helmet from time to time as the padding and shock absorption foam in them does degrade over time, making them less effective.

How to Power up Your Bike with an Ebike Conversion Kit

July 4th, 2009 by admin

One of the great things about an ebike is that you can lengthen your miles but shorten your commute. A great many people purchase an ebike to use for all their transportation. But what if you already have a bike and do not see the need to shell out for a whole new set of wheels? Well, fortunately, there are some great ebike conversion kits on the market that will let you turn your existing ride into an electric battery operated powerhouse with just a few hours of quality time with your screwdriver.

Ebike conversion kits range in complexity and price from the most basic models that just give you a little extra boost through more difficult terrain and when you start to get tired after a long ride to the high end models that can turn your traditional human powered cycle into the next level down from a do it yourself Harley. Well, maybe not exactly, but you will appreciate the power if you spring for a top level model. Conversion kits come in a range of power, price and features. But spend the money for a good kit.

Conversion kits let your turn your bike into the same level of product as a traditional pre-made ebike, with the same level of maintenance and quality… assuming the bike you put it on was a good one to start out with, of course. Conversion kits allow you to add power to the old bike you love, while keeping your dream bike.

Ebike conversion kits are all inclusive systems- once you have a kit and a bike, the only other things you may need to buy are a few basic tools to install it, like a wrench and a screw driver. These ebike conversion kits arrive with detailed instructions, and most manufacturers will have help lines. For those of us who are not mechanics, many bike shops will put the conversion kit on for you for a price.

All in all, converting your old faithful standard bike into an ebike with one of many kinds of conversion kits is a great idea..Simply evaluate all the available kits out there and choose the one that fits your wallet and your requirements.

When the ebike is ready for use and you’re out enjoying the scenery or commuting to work, you’ll be glad you did it.

Cool Ebike: Electric Mountain Bike

July 4th, 2009 by admin

There are several options to choose from when ordering an ebike. Ebikes have evolved into many types, including the powerful electric mountain bike.

What’s that? Why power assist on a mountain bike? So, couldn’t you conider that cheating? Maybe not, unless you are competing. When you’re just out to enjoy the scenery or even if you just need to get someplace fast, an ebike excels
your ride that will let you go farther, longer and have more energy over the course of your ride, allowing you to enjoy the journey a little more.

Really steep hills don’t stop an electric mountain bike rider. Since the electric motor works as an assist when you pedal, you are still controlling how you ride. Or if you’ve worn yourself out but don’t want a rest stop yet, switch over to power assist for a time.

The batteries on ebikes are designed to last a long time. Many bikes allow you to store extra batteries to incr4ease your trip lenglength as well. Remember, these batteries are not exactly featherweights, so pack accordingly if you are going to do this. Fortunately, the power assist when you are pedaling more than makes up for the added weight of those batteries and most of your stuff, so even when rising a heavy mountain bike it may still feel like you are riding a light weight street bike.

An ebike’s electric motor gives you better speed and allows you to bike longer. They are also very good for cross country as you can combine the shock absorption and great hill climbing capacity of a mountain bike with the light weight of a road bike after the electric pedal assist makes up for the added weight of the mountain bike completely. Electric mountain bikes give you an extra jolt of power.

They are great for commuting in areas with hills or rough terrain, giving you hat extra power just when you need it the most, and they are also good for mountain bike trekking over long distances. Enjoy the beauty of nature for a longer time with an ebike, and do it without polluting that wonderful environment.

cycling

July 4th, 2009 by admin

So what’s the bugger like to ride? Firstly it needs to be remembered that the bike is a hybrid human/battery powered design… not a purely electric bike.

Let’s take a look at a trip.

When I leave my house, I am immediately confronted with a very steep climb up the street on which I live. In the driveway I get the bike moving in 1st gear (of 21 gears on this mountain bike) and then switch the battery system in at 12V. (Never switch in the electric power with the bike stationary – there’ll be a huge current gulp.)

Then I ratchet up to 3rd gear and select 24V power with the bike moving faster. In propulsion, the increase is immediately noticeable and as I start the climb, I move up to 5th gear. However, the burst of speed is short-lived and as the bike slows with the increasing gradient, I shift back to 3rd, feeling the electrical assist becoming more pronounced. The trick is not to match going so slowly that the motor is over-loaded, and not pedalling so hard that the rider is over-loaded but the pedalling speed and selected gear with the amount of electric assist!

As the hill flattens before my driveway, the bike slows still further and then when I am only just moving, I switch off the electrics and brake to a halt.

The roads on which I am riding are very hilly – too hilly for normal bikes or even for folding electric bikes, as people are often seen pushing their bikes up them. However, with electric assist  there is not a hill that I cannot ride up, and that is without having to stand and pedal.

If you just like the idea of having another form of motorised transport, or your license has gone the way of the dodo, an electric bicycle is a do-able do-it-yourself project.

Before You Buy an Ebike

July 4th, 2009 by admin

If you are tired of paying ridiculous prices for gas just to get around town in your car but everything you need to get to is way out of walking distance, perhaps it’s time to consider switching over to an ebike. Unlike traditional bicycles, an ebike, or electric bicycle, has an electric motor either attached directly to the frame or built into the hub of the front or rear wheel. Ebike motors are driven by the latest battery technology, including litium ion batteries. While more costly than a conventional bicycle, you’ll gain exercize and save gas on your way to work. There are electric bikes available for many different purposes, from commuting to and from work to off road trail riding for any commuter, and if you decide you want an ebike but already have a bicycle you love, converting your old bike into an electric assist model is easy with an off the shelf ebike conversion kit.

Do some careful thinking about how you will be using your new ebike. Will you be riding on trails, the beach or roads? Will you use your ebike for little jaunts to the store or will you ride for long journeys or on trails? Because an ebike’s motor uses friction on the wheel or chain, you will experience a bit of resistance. You will also have to account for the added weight of the battery, and while high efficiency electric batteries have come a long way in decreasing their size and weight in the last few years, they are still not what one would consider featherweights. On the plus side, many bikes are designed to let you engage and disengage the power assist mechanism on demand, which means that you can get rid of that extra resistance by turning a switch. If you think you will be not always be using the power assist when bicycling, you should make sure to look for a model with this option.

While you probably won’t use the ebike for really long trips, the shorter trips with the bike will save on gas. Riding an ebike also helps eliminate the pollution you might otherwise contribute by driving a car. Ebikes get you around town wuicker than an ordinary bicyle could, and it’s geat fun and exercise. Many folding ebikes have a low profile so they can be easily stored when not in use or popped into the trunk of your car so you can take it with you when you go out of town.

Choosing the Best Bicycle

July 4th, 2009 by admin

HTML clipboard

Years ago you had very few choices in what type of bicycle you would ride.  Most bikes were simple single speed bikes with coaster brakes.  Your top speed or long distance riding was dependent upon your leg power and nothing more.  In my teen years, I got my first 3-speed Schwinn bicycle and the world of cycling would never be the same for me.  The selection of gears made bicycling a lot easier and longer trips seemed to be much faster.

I recall seeing the first mountain bicycles making their way to the market with a softer seat and a straight handlebar which provided a much more comfortable riding position.  The only problem I noticed was the hard ride provided by standard mountain bike tires.

Somewhere around mid early nineties, some of the major bicycle manufacturers started with basic versions of what we now call hybrid bicycles.  The first few years they simply took a popular road bike and changed out the handle bars for straight bars.  Most went with a tire the same size or just a bit larger then their road bikes, only with a bit of more aggressive tread.  In most cases the early hybrids were a bit more comfortable then the standard road touring bike but their tires made them a bit worse on streets and only good for gravel or dirt paths off road.

Today, it isn’t difficult to get confused between terms like mountain bikes, comfort or cruiser bicycles and hybrid bicycles.  Comfort bikes are generally well sprung and soft seated versions of what we’d refer to as old fashioned cruiser bicycles.  These are well suited for easy riding along asphalt roads, dirt paths and beach areas.  You’ll probably tire of this bike quickly if you want to do any distance riding or use your bike for commuting to work or school.  But they server well for short trips.

The typical mountain bikes today provide a good upright sitting position with adjustable seat height and handle bars.  They might provide 18, 21 or 24 speeds via handle bar twist grip shifters.  Most mountain bikes will have front end suspension and many will also have rear wheel suspension.  There are differences of opinion on the value of front and rear suspension.  Some riders feel it provides too soft a ride for serious hill climbing while others value the smoother ride.  The simple truth is that most who ride mountain bikes never do any serious off road riding or hill climbing but selected this style bicycle due to the overall look.

Hybrid bicycles are somewhat of a multi-purpose bike that brings together features of mountain bikes and merges them with road bikes. Unfortunately, the price is generally a bit higher then mountain bikes.

Instead of spending money on a hybrid, you might upgrade your current bike.  Most all bike owners will save their bicycles for years.  The first thing to consider is where you can find a good variety of bicycle parts for sale.  I suggest reading the entire article to help you decide if a Mountain Bike or Hybrid Which is Best for you.

Bowling Tips: How to read a bowling lane

July 4th, 2009 by admin

If you enjoy bowling on a regular basis you have probably noticed that bowling lanes are often different and this can affect the way the ball rolls.  In order to compensate for this you should familiarize yourself with the following tips.

If, in order to obtain strikes, all that one needed to do was to throw the ball, it would be pretty easy.  However there is no more chance of that than there is of you sprouting wings and flying!  Some will state that every single lane is different.  This is not far from the truth as one finds that a pair of lanes are usually different from each other.

You will discover that some lanes ‘run out of the window’, to use bowling lingo. Rather than having some difficulty hooking the ball you find that you achieve too much hook.  Other lanes tend to ‘hold’ the ball.  This is when you find that, instead of having much hook you instead have difficulty getting the ball to come up in the pocket.

These differences are the ones that bowlers tend to encounter more frequently, although you will find lanes with enough hook to suit you.  Naturally, what is right for you might not be so for your fellow teammates and you should keep that in mind if they are not performing as well as you are.

You need to be able to adjust your usual delivery without any problems in accordance with the type of lane that you are bowling on.  Irrespective of the lane you are using your first bowl should be from your usual position.  Only once you have seen how the ball moves should you then change your position.  When it comes to moving this is the most basic rule:

Assuming you are a right-handed bowler you should move slightly left while maintaining the same spot, if your ball is either coming up too fast or is crossing the lane.

This method is appropriate when you go bowling on lanes that are too slow.

Spot bowling means that you should take the spot down lane from where the ball breaks toward the pocket into consideration.  Invariably this is only about two thirds down the lane and is never as far away as the head pin.

From where you take up your position imagine a line drawn down all the way down your lane once you have determined how your ball breaks.  From the spot where the ball breaks you move to the foul line where you release the ball so that it rolls over your spot.  Some bowlers might find that this spot is too far down the lane and so does not suit them, while others find it rather helpful.

You will find that it can be quite advantageous to move slightly to the right of your usual spot if you are bowling on a fast lane.  It is necessary to do so if the ball is not reaching the head pin.

The technique favored by experienced bowlers might be the one that you find most suitable.

When bowling on a slow lane this technique does not require you to move to the left, because you move your chosen spot slightly to the right while beginning from the same position for your approach.

Likewise, if you are bowling on a fast lane, you move your spot slightly to the left and proceed as usual.

If you are experiencing too much hook moving the spot to the right, rather than your position, is the best solution for you.

Remember that one board can make a significant difference.  It is important to bear that in mind so that you do not make any big changes to either your position or your spot.

By bowling on lanes that are not favorable you will learn how the ball will perform.  You will be just like the professionals who are able to discern the proper adjustments after they have bowled only one ball.

And lastly, altering the speed of the ball will help you to find the strike pocket. If you find that the ball is not reaching the head pin you should reduce the speed and, if it keeps crossing the lane, you should then increase the speed.

If you are familiar with basic bowling tips and rules you will know that this is a contradiction of the one which advocates mastering a smooth delivery and sticking with it.

With practice and experience you will learn how to read a lane and how to determine the necessary changes you should make.

Bowling Tips to improve your score

July 4th, 2009 by admin

In the quest to be a more efficient bowler you would benefit from the following hints and bowling tips.  To execute the proper back-swing and follow-through you need to ensure that your back-swing does not exceed your shoulder height.  And the correct follow-through does not involve you posing as though for photographer.

To be able to release the ball in the proper manner you need to know how to do a correct back-swing and follow-through.

When visiting the bowling places you will probably have noticed that some bowlers have high back-swings.  This can result in one wondering what amount of damage or harm might be caused if the bowler lost his grip on the ball.

Of course the above possibility is not the main concern when it comes to why a bowler would do well to restrict his or her back-swing.  Instead, the main problem is that it often forces the bowler to make a mistake which results in loss of control.  These days more experienced bowlers choose to limit the back-swing precisely so that they can maintain their control.

Your back-swing should begin the moment you have done your push-away and must be swung straight back.  Avoid letting the arm swing around your hips.

Some bowlers have even managed to almost do away with their back-swing completely.  Their usual technique is to do the push-away, keeping the ball at their side, quicken their pace somewhat, slide to a stop and finally, they release the ball down the lane.

Your back-swing should never exceed the height of your shoulders, which because of the position that you are in, are lower then normal.

Maintaining control is essential and possible provided your back-swing is not higher than your shoulder level.

Keeping control is not the sole reason why some bowlers choose to limit their back-swing.  Doing so results in less hook and ensures that the ball rolls better.  It is important to achieve less hook while at the same time not preventing the ball from rolling properly to the pocket.

Executing the proper follow-through.

Like most guides that offer helpful hints on how to improve your bowling this one also offers advice on the proper follow-through.  The best technique is to simply allow your arm to swing naturally.  Allowing this natural motion to happen will cause the swing to end either in front of your eyes, or off to the side, depending on whether you are left or right handed.

When you release the ball you need to try to do a direct pull-up.  By following this method you will find that you will not cross your arm over your body and you will not also pull the ball.  This method enables you to release the ball directly in front of you which is the ideal spot.

Among the bowlers who choose to do less of a follow-through are those who also choose to prevent their arm from going higher.  For them this is the most effective technique.  If they are a right-hand bowler they do a right leg kick and, by stretching out their left arm, they maintain their balance.

There has been quite a rise in unconventional follow-throughs over recent years.  You now find bowlers who seem to deliberately cross their arm in front of their body.  Some take it so far that it looks as though they are about to take hold of their opposite ear for some reason.  There are others who ensure that they do not cross the foul line and hold their arm way above their heads as though they are being photographed.  And other bowlers finish off their method with straight arms at their sides.

You might see an experienced or professional bowler using an unusual method or technique but remember, they know how to use it.

There remains one more tip to mention for now.  Focusing on the target that you are aiming the ball at is very important but not looking some place else to soon is equally important.  In fact, you should keep your eye on the target until you end your follow-through.  This will also help you to resist crossing your arm in front of you.

If you are seriously wanting to improve not only your back-swing but your follow-through as well, then the above hints will be of benefit to you.

And if you would like to find out even more helpful hints and suggestions then you will be pleased if you visit:  http://www.bowlingtips.org
